Making a Bequest
Making a bequest to the parish of St Mary of the Angels will materially support the parish in its ministry in the heart of central Wellington - a ministry, nourished for more than a century, to many generations of Catholics and others who have found in St Mary of the Angels a place of refuge and comfort, a place of peace and hope.
Your bequest will be used in one of three ways:
- ensuring the preservation and maintenance of our Historic Places Trust – Category One church,
- the ongoing preservation and maintenance of other parish assets such as the offices, hall and living quarters of the priests,
- the development of the ministry of the Parish.
So that we may respect your intentions we ask that you stipulate in your will one or more of the following three options that you intend to support by means of your bequest:
- for the preservation and maintenance of the Church building
- for the ongoing preservation and maintenance of other parish assets (e.g. parish offices, hall, priests living quarters, organ, stained glass windows, grounds, etc.)
- for the development of the ministry of the parish (e.g. catechetics, the National Shrine, aged care support, tertiary level chaplaincy, etc.)
How do I change to an existing will to include a bequest for the St Mary of the Angels?
To make or update an existing will you can consult your personal solicitor, or the Public Trust Office, or a Trustee Company, and inform them that you wish to change or add to your will details of a bequest to the parish of St Mary of the Angels.
If you have an existing will there are several solicitors in the Parish who will add to your existing will details setting out your bequest to St Mary of the Angels. This will be done at NO CHARGE TO YOU. If you require this assistance please contact the parish priest and he will arrange for a solicitor to contact you.
If you do not have a will and wish one to be written for you, which will include a bequest to St Mary of the Angels, please contact the parish priest and he will arrange for a parish solicitor to contact you. Preparation of such a will incurs the usual fees for the legal preparation of a will.
If you have any queries or wish to discuss a bequest to the parish further before including it in your will, or you require further clarification about any point, please contact the parish priest.
