St Mary of the Angels, Wellington – Music Director

The Parish Church of St Mary of the Angels, Wellington, seeks applications for the position of Director of Music. Applicants should have musical training to degree standard or equivalent professional experience, be an effective and constructive communicator, and ideally be familiar with the Catholic liturgy. The Music Director reports to the Parish Priest, and supports the development of music in the wider Parish community.

A key requirement is to lead the choir, whose core repertoire comprises the Gregorian Chant liturgical cycle and Latin polyphonic motets. The church has an illustrious musical tradition, under the leadership of the current Director, Robert Oliver, and his predecessor, Maxwell Fernie, stretching back over 70 years.

The position is part time (approx. 20 hours per week). The well-equipped choir room is located in central Wellington, and comes with a car park.
